Sweet 16 Dress For Metal Niece
Monday, May 4th, 2009
Gaming Nephew, Metal Niece, and her boyfriend Metal Boyfriend spent the weekend with us. It was a rainy, crappy few days, so we spent a lot of time in-doors watching movies. But, we did get out for Free Comic Book Day. We went to Comic Book Jones in Staten Island where our dear friend Stephen Lindsay was signing the AlternaZombies FCBD edition, along with his own Jesus Hates Zombies comics.
Yesterday, on our way to bring the kids home in Long Island, we stopped at the Roosevelt Field Mall so that Metal Niece could try on dresses at the JMC Boutique for her Sweet 16 party in September.
Yup, my little angel, who I’ve been writing about on this blog since she was about 10 years old, is turning 16 in just a few months. She’s grown into an absolutely beautiful young lady, who’s caring and sweet and a joy to have around. I could gush about her for days, but my point is, she means a lot to me and there’s nothing I wouldn’t do for her if it is in my powers/means.
Since her Sweet 16 party is going to be a huge deal, at a hall, with 150 people, I knew I wanted to contribute something special to the occasion. I talked to my sister-in-law about buying Metal Niece a dress for the party, and she thought it was a great idea, since she’ll be recovering from surgery for the next two months and won’t be able to take her daughter shopping.
We found a few nice dresses online that were from Jessica McClintock. The one we picked was from the Graduation section, but truthfully, it could be a mini wedding dress (check it out listing for it HERE). It only comes up to the knee, but it has that wedding dress type of embroidery on it, plus it’s ivory. Above is a picture I snapped of it on the rack with my cell phone.
