Mini Wedding Dress

Dave and I went our friend Ang’s wedding on Friday night. I’ve known Ang since before we were in kindergarten, so it was really nice to share in this day with her.
The couple was set up on a dais with the flavors table to one side and next to that was an adorable miniature wedding dress draped a wired box. The top of the box fitted to the shape of the torso of the dress, while the bottom skirt portion of the mini-dress flared over the rest of the box. Kind of like that thing underneath a Scarlet O’Hara type dress, the name of which escapes me right now. Well, that’s a photo of the mini-dress at right, it came out a bit fuzzy because of the low lighting.
From a far, I couldn’t tell what it was for, but up close I could see that the wire frame was really a box that had all the wedding-gift envelopes in it. What a clever way to disguise the envelopes! Much better than a big white box with an envelope slot on top, or even the embroidered silk bag the bride is supposed to walk around with.
The wedding was one of those fancy deals with the extra-seafood cocktail hour; carved watermelons; chocolate fountains; and Venetian hour. The music included a five-man DJ ensemble. No, not a band, just a bunch of DJs. What they were doing, I’m not sure. There was the man DJ guy who walks around talking right at you; the “somebody scream!” guy; a steel-drum player; the light-show guy; and then I think someone just raising the roof. Hmm… interesting.
Speaking of the music, I did not like it. Surprise, surprise!!!! But, it was an entertaining enough event where my friends and I had a blast even though we were off the dance floor most of that time. (Don’t worry, Dave and I got up for all the obligatory numbers.)
The food was great, too, tons that Dave and I could eat. That was a pleasant surprise. I guess that’s what you get when you pay big bucks.
I have to say, the event was very low drama and everything went smoothly. No ripped dresses or soiled suits, no missing items, no forgotten cameras, no cat fights, nothing. You can tell that the bride and groom had an amazing time. And that just what I had hoped for them. At the end of the night, Ang came over to me and said, “I had the best time at my wedding. It was worth the xxx-thousand dollars!” And I know she meant it.

FIVE DJs? Hmmmm…seems like overkill. Weddings are always cool when you know the couple really well and they deserve each other and happiness. And there’s an open bar. (Of course that does me no good now, but I remember…)

That would be a petticoat, dear.
That is such a cute money box holder. I was wondering if anyone knows where I could get one, or if the bride know. Thank you!
